6th November 2023

This week, I want to talk about how pain is only temporary and how you always need to hold onto this thought when going through difficult things as, given time, pain eases. This is a big subject, so I have split it into two parts, for this and next week.
Life has a funny way of throwing challenges our way to test our strength and resilience. Sometimes, it feels like we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. But today, I want to remind you of a simple truth: pain is only temporary.
Pain may feel overwhelming and never-ending to you in the moment. The burdens that we face can often also be both physical and emotional, leaving us feeling drained and exhausted. But trust me when I say that pain will pass.
It is very important to remember that pain is not permanent and is usually just the sign of a temporary setback or hurdle you must overcome on your journey towards a brighter future. But it is very hard to get yourself to see things this way.
During times of pain and adversity, it is very easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, as we get consumed by the darkness and become convinced that the pain will never cease. But do not shy away from pain. Try to see every trial as an opportunity for growth.
In painful moments, just try to hold on a little longer. As strange as it sounds, you also actually need to embrace pain and let it fuel your determination to push through things. Try to use pain as a stepping stone towards personal growth and happiness.
Pain also teaches us resilience, empathy, and gratitude. It shapes us into the best versions of ourselves. So trust in your own strength and believe you can withstand any challenge that life throws at you. Reflect on the valuable lessons that you learn and who you become.
Similarly, pain can be a catalyst for personal transformation and inner strength. Again, think back to all the pain that you have experienced in the past and remind yourself of the immense strength that you found within you to rise above it. You are always stronger than you realise.
But some types of pain can have long-lasting effects. Pain also varies in intensity and duration for each person and may need professional support sometimes. Be sensitive to this and don’t be dismissive of a person’s individual pain by always emphasising its temporary nature.
So, this week, remember that pain is only temporary and growth can result from experiencing pain, including the resilience and determination you get from navigating through difficult times. And remember that even the most beautiful flowers need rain to blossom!
