Alt text: Colour cartoon of an exuberant white cat wearing a yellow “YES!” T-shirt, racing excitedly towards a chaotic collection of possibilities including skydiving, an open-mic night, moving abroad, starting a band, pizza, a rollercoaster, a microphone and a doughnut. A worried dog holding a “Life Plan” clipboard asks, “Shouldn’t you be more selective?” Caption: “I don’t have a type. I just have Wi-Fi and zero impulse control.”

Today, I want to talk to you about how saying yes more often completely rewires your life.

You spend so many years of your life just saying no. Not just to invitations, but no to anything that seems risky or uncertain. We usually call it ‘caution’, or even ‘self-preservation’. But honestly? It was just fear dressed up as wisdom. And nothing remarkable happens to us.

However, if you start saying yes to things and people more often, whether to simple things, like having a coffee with someone you barely know, or to big projects that made you nervous, even these small yeses usually mean that your world then explodes with possibilities and grows.

Suddenly, there are more options everywhere and good things keep finding you, because you finally open doors that were closed before.

Here are some examples:

  • Someone invites you somewhere you’d normally decline. You say yes. You then meet the person who becomes your life partner, business associate, or closest friend. One word changed everything.
  • An opportunity surfaces that genuinely frightens you. You say yes before your doubt wins. That yes then leads to the accomplishment that rewires your life and how you see yourself.
  • Your child asks you to play with them right now. You’re busy, but you say yes anyway. Twenty minutes later, you’ve given them a moment that you will both remember for life. That experience becomes a memory you’ll both treasure forever.

But we also need to be honest. I’m not suggesting that you say yes to everything indiscriminately. That would be exhausting and foolish. Some yeses drain, rather than nourish you. In fact, some directly contradict boundaries that actually protect you. The trick isn’t saying yes to everything—it’s learning when saying yes matters most.

So, today, remember to say yes more often to the invitations that genuinely call to you. Remember that your life is built from these small agreements to show up. And also remember that if you just say yes more often, you will see how so much better things go for you!
