This week, I want to talk to you about how motivation comes from inside of you, not from outside of you, because it’s so important to remember that motivation always comes from within you and not from external sources.
Whilst encouragement and support from others can certainly add fuel to your drive, it’s only your own inner fire and drive that truly propels you forward. This is your power, capability and control. You must therefore always believe in yourself, trust in your abilities and let inner motivation guide you.
You’ve got to find what motivates you to do something, no matter what. It may be something that just makes you feel good when you do it, or it may be that somebody said to you once that you can’t do something and you want to prove them wrong.
But when you rely on external factors for motivation, you’re essentially placing your future success in the hands of others. Yet when you instead cultivate motivation from within, you’re now taking real ownership of your goals and actively working toward them, empowering yourself to succeed.
Ultimately, it is always up to an individual to drive themselves towards success. I really want to emphasise to you therefore the importance of always seeking and finding internal motivation and passion for anyone achieving academic, creative, or business goals. Here are some examples:
Imagine a student who is struggling with their studies and who may feel unmotivated, but by realising that their desire to succeed comes from within and not from external pressure, they can then tap into their own inner motivation to push through any difficulties and achieve their academic goals.
Or imagine a creative person who is facing a creative block. They may seek outside inspiration from other people or artists, but it is only their own creativity and love for what they do that will ultimately reignite their motivation and help them break through the block.
Or imagine a business owner facing challenges in finding success in what they are doing. Although they may sometimes look to mentors or advisors for guidance, it is only their own determination and drive to succeed that will ultimately lead them to overcome obstacles and achieve their business goals.
Finally, although I have focused on individual motivation, I also need to highlight the importance of having external support and resources, or having specific strategies and tips for tapping into inner motivation that can help some people overcome obstacles to self-motivation, or to achieve their goals.
So, this week, if you find yourself lacking motivation, remember that the power to push through always lies within you. You therefore have to be internally motivated and want to do something if you are going to succeed. While external motivation is good, only internal motivation brings you true fulfilment!
